Upon entering, you are greeted by a stunning traditional interior. The space retains all the hallmarks of a classic public house: dark oak paneling, cozy snugs, and a roaring fireplace that anchors the room. However, the "modern twist" is what sets it apart. Industrial lighting, vibrant local artwork, and sleek leather upholstery inject a fresh energy that prevents the space from feeling like a museum. The selection of drinks is equally impressive. For the traditionalist, there is a rotating lineup of well-kept local ales. For those seeking something modern, the craft beer list is extensive, featuring international picks and unique sours. Their cocktail menu is a highlight, offering creative reinventions of classics that mirror the pub's own aesthetic. Whether you are looking for the nostalgic comfort of a neighborhood local or the sophisticated buzz of a modern bar, this spot delivers on all fronts. It is a masterclass in how to honor the past while embracing the present.
I had my retirement party at “The Hop” Leeds. Dec 2025 (Fri Night) The venue was great and Rob & his team made us all very welcome and accommodated my needs. Our function space upstairs was reserved as promised and it was perfect for my needs. The band, atmosphere, selection of beers and the staff made for a great night. Thanks to you all. Craig.
Have been here a couple of times now and enjoyed both visits. There's a great selection of beers, particularly the real ales, and food options too. On our last visit I was disappointed that the pies had stopped serving at 7pm so it was a limited menu (better read the small print on the pie menu next time 😭). The food was good though (I had the chicken strips). It's been very quiet (during the week) when I've visited so I'm not sure what the place is like when it gets busy but service was good and plenty of seating choices.
We attended a surrogacy UK social here last week in half the upstairs area. A shame the toilets are upstairs so it meant the public were in and out of the area all the time. Clean ish loos apart from a water spillage . Nicely decorated . The pie, mash and peas are bloody gorgeous. Well worth the money. Nice views of the surrounding locks, canal boats etc. Music was a bit load for us to be able to talk without having to shout so I came away with a headache but nice for a short visit.
Good pies. Good playlist. Good beer. Walked in for lunch, on the whim of my mum, who was in the mood for pie. We made our choices and the wait was SHORT. I ordered the Rat based lager, which was ace. Everyone else chose a spirit and a pie, because who doesn't enjoy a rum with lunch? Service was quick and pleasant. Pie was hot and delicious. We all appreciated the decent music as well. It's nice to find a place that has the toe-tapping classics for all ages. Thanks, pub.
