Lealholm Village Shop

Tearooms review Oh dear. I'll try to use constructive language here. IF the sandwich was made with bread from one of the several local bakeries rather than supermarket pappy stuff; IF the fillings were home made; if there was a proper salad in the sandwich; IF there was more than 5 crisps on the plate; for that matter IF there was just more of all of it; IF soft drinks were kept in the fridge... then this place would be wonderful! (And worth the 5.50 a sandwich). The service from the waitress was great.

We stayed in Lealholm for a fortnight earlier this month and used the shop regularly (Sainsbury's is 20 minutes drive away in Whitby). It was one of the highlights of our holiday. Yes, it is a little bit dearer than a supermarket - though possibly not once you factor in the cost of driving to Whitby and back - but such a wonderful experience to be able to put the kettle on, pop out to the shop and be back before it has boiled. Convenience aside, the fresh produce was amazing, the farmhouse butter was superb, delicious biscuits from Bothams...... You get the picture. The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. A real gem.

Staying locally I've used this gem of a shop a few times this week. They are the most friendly owners, stock an excellent range of grocery items, alcohol and fresh fruit and veg and importantly have very good and long opening hours which is something not all village shops do. Even on Saturday they helped me source some logs from a shop that wasn't open. Simply the best ❤️

Visited yesterday while staying on a local campsite the shop has everything you could want and a lovely village feel. Doesn't have huge amounts of stock but this is a traditional village and is more than adequate.

Great for essentials and local produce! I found it rather pricey though - over £3 for one 500ml bottle of cider. The lady in the shop though was very friendly and welcoming
