Delicious vegan food! Best vegan fried chicken I’ve had! The Korean friend chicken is so good, really recommend. Very helpful waitress, they accommodated our dietary requests and were very helpful giving recommendations. Would definitely visit again, I wished I lived closer! Also the food looked so good I forgot to take a photo!
Always a highlight of visiting Leeds - one of the best vegan menus I’ve ever experienced! So much choice that I’m always thinking of the other options when I’m full from my chosen one (usually the bad girl kebab). Really good portion sizes which I feel completely justify the cost. The staff are also so welcoming and attentive. Cannot wait for my next visit!
We had a takeaway from Doner Summer a few years ago and had great memories of it so we decided to take our children for lunch. We booked the first available slot (12pm on a Saturday) and thankfully it was reasonably quiet. The staff was lovely: very nice and helpful, without being in our face. The place was clean - and no big light which is always a bonus! We ordered a chick'n burger for the children to share, and 2 different doners, as well as a sharing plate of cheese and bacon tots and one of an animal fries. We were very excited and enjoyed the first bites but very quickly the "cheese sauce" became sickening as it was loaded with grease but didn't taste much of anything. It is more like a hollandaise, very buttery. The tots are amazing but again they were loaded with excellent bacon and that same "cheese" sauce. The chick'n in the doners was too salty and very chewy, and the doner flat bread didn't taste very fresh. The burger chick'n was not cooked properly (the middle was still soft). We ended up leaving half burger as well as half the tots and some fries, which is a shame. We were offered doggy bags and initially accepted but realised we would not be able to eat more of those as they were lathered in the hollandaise/cheese sauce. Very disappointed with the quality of the food, we won't go back. EDIT AS I DONT KNOW HOW TO RESPOND TO THE OWNER'S RESPONSE: We had pumped ourselves up with that visit. Our youngest barely ate anything and our oldest enjoyed it except for the sauce that he described as tasteless. So as far as he was concerned the experience was great. We thought you guys were really lovely and only debriefed after we left. We are not faulting the service in ant way, you were great, but unfortunately the food was not.
We don't find ourselves in Leeds often but when we do we always visit Doner Summer. The food is excellent - the portions, the FLAVOURS so so good. I had the vegan spice bag and the flavour was great. The texture of the fried chicken was wonderful, and I really appreciated the softer tofu chunks for a variety of textures in the plate. My partner got a kebab and he devoured it. Got some tater tots to share and they were also the perfect crunchy but soft on the inside texture. Their own sodas are also incredibly tasty - i have a soft spot for the elderflower and apple one! The staff are always prompt and attentive, and I appreciate being asked if I'd like a to go box for left overs (we only had some tater tots left and were travelling so passed, but still a nice gesture to help combat waste as well). The price is also very fair for the quality and portions. Unsure when we will next be Leeds-way but if we are we look forward to being back again!
Loved the food! Unreal quantity!!! The Fried Chicken is seriously so good. Never had anything vegan be sooooooo gooood. Experiencing that feel and crunch of a fried chicken as a veggie. I can’t explain. Thank you. This is where a Reddit post took me today :) FC was coated with Korean 2.0 sauce which I think is mainly Gochujang. Picked daikon was lovely. We just went on munching and taking large bits off the chicken pieces. Loved the sesame seeds and the flavour it brings to the table too. My friend, a non-vegetarian, who likes chicken wings said this is very close to what it feels like, so I guess I lucked out coming to Leeds, a literal food hub. And guess what she liked it too. The Doner Kebab we chose was Bad Girl. The pickles, pink sauce and red meat chunks were the key ingredients. I loved how they have played around with textures here. Not a sharing item we realised once the dish was served and we took our knives out. Can I even say the iced tap water too tasted heavenly here! Lovely dinner! Happy tummy!
