We had banh mi, curry with chicken and chicken summer rolls for lunch today. The curry was not too spicy and the chicken was tender. The banh mi was crispy and the ingredients were fresh. The pickled carrots were made in traditional Vietnamese-style. This restaurant makes the most authentic Vietnamese food in Headingley!
Food is delicious, the prawn summer rolls are perfectly wrapped and refreshing, we had vegan and beef pho, both yummy and soups was just perfect for rainy weather. Good service, small eatery and it's good value, costs us less than £30 and we each had a cup of tea. There's a small loo, and can park by the roadside or opposite headingley taps.
Absolutely amazing food and lovely service! The prawn summer rolls were to die for (couldn’t even wait to take a bite before the photo haha) The special pho was unbelievable! So fresh, so tasty, my mouth is watering just remembering how good it was! We asked for extra bean sprouts and that was no trouble and gave it that extra crunch and fresh taste! Fish sauce, chilli oil and siracha all readily available so you can adjust your flavour to your own taste. Quick service and lovely lady who served us! Cannot recommend enough!
This place offers a really good range of items and I was really excited about trying the pulled pork banh mi. The service was friendly, however a little bit slow and seemed a bit unorganised but I think this is maybe due to it being new. Sadly, the banh mi was a complete let down. I have had various banh mis in the past which have all been really top notch which is why I was excited to try one here. What arrived was a tiny end piece of crusty bread (likely just from Sainsbury’s across the road) and inside was some pork, which was quite tasty in a somewhat bland sauce and some hard-boiled, school dinner-style carrots. It was quite bizarre, there were literally no other ingredients, no fresh coriander for example, I have no clue why the carrots were so thick and cooked. Unfortunately there was also a mix-up with the bill so we were nearly charged for an extra one. I don’t know about the other items on the menu but the banh mi was really not good, and definitely not authentic.
Lam’s Kitchen is absolutely excellent. Everything was good from start to finish — the food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour, and the service was quick and friendly. A perfect experience all around. Definitely a five-star place!
