Probably the best roast in the UK and I’ve tried loads from different cities and restaurants. The simple but amazing things I love about maxis rotisserie is the generous portions, tasty meats (the duck beats any roast duck in Leeds, roast pork belly is also super crispy and cha siu which I liked the least but was still good), you then get unlimited scallion ginger oil and chilli oil too to your liking. Loads of people visit here even locals so not just fellow Asian customers so you know the word has been passed around about how great maxis is. Service is also friendly too and they work so quickly so the queue tends to not take too long. Looking forward to visit maxis again and try different dishes as I heard the beef brisket is good too. One thing is remember to bring cash as they’re cash only!
Hidden in a corner of Kirkgate Market, specializes in Hong Kong style roast meats. It’s a simple self-service setup, order and pay first (cash only), then find your own seat and grab cutlery. Prices are reasonable for the UK: roast meat rice £9.80, two/three meat combo £11, and a quarter roast duck £10.50. Food comes in takeaway boxes with generous portions. The rice is plentiful and filling. The roast duck is the highlight, crispy skin, tender meat, and flavorful duck fat that makes it really delicious. The roast pork belly is also good, with crunchy skin and a nice fat-to-lean balance. The char siu is decent, nothing exceptional. Overall, if you’re in Leeds and craving Hong Kong style roast meats, this is worth a visit. The roast duck is especially recommended!
Yum, authentic char siu and siu yok in Leeds! I think pricing is decent too. Came here with a big group so I can’t say for sure how much a portion costs. Would come back again! Service is pretty fast too and staff are nice. There was a line when we arrived, but we maybe waited 10-15mins before managing to get a seat inside.
the rice taste perfect, prawn dumplings are absolutely amazing. my friend and I love it so much it reminds us our hometown 🥲it was a shame we didn’t get the french toast will definitely come back for them
The reviews for this place looked amazing, so gave it a go, and it was more of a miss than a hit for us. While the duck was nice, the pork was quite dry and, alongside the rice, everything was cold which we were not expecting as we ate it right after ordering. The lady on the register was very nice, and directed us to the nearest cash machine as they dont accept card. One of our party ordered the ginger and spring onion chicken, which had no flavour of ginger and was also very cold. Our meals all also appeared to be microwaved right before they were bagged up, so maybe we just got unlucky with the order.
