We had a fantastic dinner at The Whitehall Restaurant & Bar and it was truly one of the best meals of our trip in the UK. The ambience was warm and elegant, perfect for a relaxed yet special evening. We started with six fresh oysters, which were clean, briny and very well presented. The highlight was the impressive Tomahawk steak – perfectly cooked, juicy, tender and full of flavour, great for sharing. For mains, we enjoyed the Pappardelle Pomodoro, with its rich and comforting slow-roasted San Marzano tomato ragu, basil, confit garlic and aged parmesan – simple yet beautifully executed. The Black Truffle Gnocchi was absolutely indulgent, packed with earthy truffle aroma, wild forest mushrooms, spinach, chives and crispy potatoes, creating a wonderful balance of textures and flavours. Every dish was delicious, well-plated and thoughtfully prepared. Service was attentive and friendly, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful place for a special meal – we loved it so much that we are already thinking of coming back again. Highly recommended!
We were a walk-in today, wanted to try their Sunday roast, pictures and reviews we read were decent. Managed to get a table but was asked if we'd mind agreeing to a limited time, which wasn't a problem. I would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Service was good, very attentive, food was excellent, we had Beef and Pork, both cooked perfectly. Came with a side of cauliflower cheese and extra gravy. Portion size was enough for us, very happy with our visit.
Highly recommend this restaurant. We held my Mum's 60th here in August, everything was fantastic. Booking via phone was easy, very accommodating for a group of 14 and two high chairs, only a credit card needed to secure the booking. We had a choice of a set menu or a la carte, no ordering in advance or requirement to all eat from the same menu. Very flexible. It's rare to find a restaurant nowadays where you feel completely satisifed with everything but The Whitehall exceeded my expectations! The scallops to start were 10/10...cooked to perfection in a beautiful sauce, I could eat them every day. The pork duo main was delicious, cooked perfectly and well seasoned, good portion size with enough room for dessert. Every single person in our party said their food was fantastic. The menu has so much choice, it really was difficult to choose. The staff were all so attentive, friendly and helpful, they helped decorate the table, topped our glasses up without leaving us waiting and really couldn't have done any more for us. The wine waiter had some good suggestions too. This restaurant is perfect for a group, it's open and modern so can be noisy but it was unpretentious and classy. I wish we lived in Leeds, we would visit all the time. We had a really enjoyable experience and felt it was very reasonably priced. A must visit in Leeds.
First visit to this large restaurant on Whitehall Road; at the foot of that tower that’s had so many problems with the cladding. Now scaffolding free, it made me notice this place afresh. Inside the restaurant is bright and airy, white walls and marble floors. There’s a nice vibe in here of an evening. Chill yet traditional. You sense the meal will be good. Nice big menu with lots of choice. Pizza, pasta and steak. Also fish. Opted for the venison wellington; I love venison and it sounded like a dish that would be rich and hearty. Not wrong, a beautiful (and big) portion of perfectly pink venison in a light and flaky crust. Wow, could eat that all day. So very rich with a hearty sauce, turnip to the side. I wish more places would use game. The chef here clearly knows his meat. Excellent. The steak must be fantastic. Reasonably priced as well. The beer was Moretti; as it should be when it isn’t Peroni. Definitely recommend giving this place a try next time you’re in town. They do specials too, so a chance at finding something unexpected and intriguing on the menu. Always welcome. Two paws up. Well done.
Absolutely superb! What a great restaurant, lovely surroundings inside and it's nice to sit outside, (weather permitting), the dishes were all, superb, a great menu with lots of choices, the wines are very well chosen and the staff are so, friendly. Our thanks to Beth and Chelsea in particular. We enjoyed our Saturday evening so much we came back the next day for the lovely Sunday lunch. It's now our go-to restaurant in Leeds.
