As the evenings turn cooler and the city’s festive lights begin to twinkle, few things feel more inviting than a hearty Italian meal. This season, the renowned family-run San Carlo group has launched its Autumn–Winter Menu 2025, filled with warming flavours and seasonal ingredients – and diners in Leeds are in for a treat.

The new dishes are available from 2 October 2025 at San Carlo Leeds, right in the heart of the city centre, and at the group’s iconic neighbourhood restaurant Flying Pizza in Roundhay, a long-standing favourite for generations of locals.

  • Flying Pizza – Roundhay

    A Leeds institution for decades, known for its warm welcome and classic Italian dishes. Set close to leafy Roundhay Park, it’s perfect for a leisurely lunch or a cosy evening meal.

Both restaurants are showcasing the full Autumn–Winter menu, making them perfect spots for a seasonal celebration or an indulgent weekday treat.


What’s New on the Seasonal Menu

Fresh Starters

  • Salmone Affumicato – smoked salmon with shallots, capers, lemon and Altamura bread.
  • Heritage Tomato Salad – marinated heritage tomatoes with goat’s cheese, black olives and fresh basil.
  • Avocado Bernardo – prawns and lettuce wrapped in soft avocado, topped with a creamy Marie Rose sauce.

Stand-out Pasta

  • Pipette Piccanti – San Carlo’s creamy, spicy take on vodka rigatoni.
  • Trofie Salsiccia & Fagioli – trofie pasta with Italian sausage, borlotti beans and rich tomato sauce, finished with pecorino.
  • Cartellate Zucca e Tartufo – pasta stuffed with pumpkin and pecorino in a sage, butter and truffle sauce – a true taste of autumn.
  • Ravioli Tartufo – handmade ravioli filled with pecorino and truffle in a creamy Grana Padano and truffle-oil sauce.

Hearty Mains

  • Beef Cheek & Spinach – slow-cooked beef cheek with gremolata and sautéed spinach.
  • Branzino al Cartoccio – whole sea bass baked in parchment with tomatoes and olives for delicate, fresh flavour.

A Leeds Tradition with Italian Heritage

The San Carlo story began with founder Carlo Distefano, who arrived in Britain from Sicily in 1962 and opened his first restaurant in 1992. Still family-run, the group has built its reputation on authentic Italian cooking and seasonal produce.

Marcello Distefano, the group’s CEO, says the new menu “sets the tone perfectly for the festive period and the start of the Christmas and party season.”
