<p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>JOB TITLE:</strong> Lecturer in Business </p> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>REPORTS TO TITLE: </strong>Associate Dean / Level Leader </p> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>BUSINESS FUNCTION/ SUB-FUNCTION: </strong>Provost / Academic<strong> </strong> </p> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>LOCATION:</strong> Leeds</p> <p><br /></p> <p> <strong>Salary: £51,000</strong></p> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>ROLE PURPOSE:</strong> </p> <p><br /></p> <p> As a HND/HNC Lecturer you will be responsible for<strong></strong>performing a range of tutoring, lecturing, academic administration, and other related activities to deliver a high-quality educational experience to our students. As a Lecturer you are expected to engage students in the learning process to deliver the best possible student outcomes. You will also be required to contribute to the development of a range of modules across the curriculum and to support the quality assurance processes pertinent to the programme(s) on which you are teaching. </p> <p><br /></p> <p> <strong>ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong> </p> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Design, plan and deliver teaching sessions as required by the Faculty. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Design assessments and assess student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide timely and constructive feedback to students. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide academic support and guidance to students. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop, update, and continuously improve course materials. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Keep up to date with best practice in learning and teaching and ensure that your teaching reflects best practice and embeds technologies that enhance the learning experience. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Contribute to the design, development, delivery, review and enhancement of programmes of study within the Faculty and across GBS. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Attend meetings as required by the role </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop productive working relationships with colleagues within and external to GBS. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Participate in internal and external events, such as programme reviews, open days, outreach activities, and partner visits. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Undertake a reflective programme of staff development which includes teaching observations, directed study, workshop participation and experiential learning. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Support and engage in the creation, application and/or dissemination of new knowledge in your field of study and/or in higher education practice. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Engage with the GBS performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, progression and satisfaction. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Act as a Module Leader or undertake other administrative/management duties, commensurate with the level of the appointment, and as determined by the Dean or Deputy Dean. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Take on other responsibilities as required to support the work of GBS, which may include acting in a more senior capacity as part of a programme of professional development. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>ESSENTIAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:</strong> </p> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>A relevant master’s degree qualification </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Demonstrable experience of teaching in UK higher education HND/HNC Pearson. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>A passion for education as a transformative activity. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience of, and a passion for, working in widening access environments. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Excellent IT skills and competence with the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint and Excel </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Excellent communication skills. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience of supervising student work and providing support and feedback. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience of supporting learners both face-to-face and remotely. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Demonstrable professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p>Attention to detail and accurate reporting. </p> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to work with minimum supervision. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to work with diverse groups of people. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>DESIRABLE SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:</strong> </p> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>A Doctoral level qualification or a demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity and/or demonstrable success at an equivalent level professionally. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Industry experience in the field of Business. </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p> <ul> <li> <p>Teaching qualification: PGCHE, MA in HE Practice or FHEA etc or willingness to gain a teaching qualification </p> </li></ul> <p><br /></p>
