The National Coaching Foundation is made up of two organisations: UK Coaching and UK Coaching Solutions. Great coaching encourages people to be more active, more often. UK Coaching is here to support people to deliver great coaching, support the organisations who recruit, develop, educate, support and deploy coaches, and to develop products and services that support more people and organisations to foster active communities. Through our commitment to people, passion and progress, we're taking the lead in coaching excellence and within our portfolio is 1st4sport, which is an awarding body that specialises in providing regulated learning, development and assessment for coaches in the UK. We work with Training Providers, Sport England, UK Sport and the Home Country Sports Councils, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), County Sports Partnerships (CSPs), and a host of sporting and physical activity partners and agencies. The maximum size of the Board is 12. The Board has statutory and fiduciary responsibilities under Charity Law and the Companies Act. It is responsible for developing strategy and acting as a challenge to the executive, who have the responsibility of day to day delivery. The Board meets a minimum of three times a year to further the development of the business. Each board member takes on additional duties according to their skill sets. This role is non-remunerated with reasonable expenses being reimbursed. Key areas of responsibility Provide strategic leadership, insight and guidance into how UK Coaching can support coaches to deliver excellent experiences. Support and challenge the Executive team who have responsibility for day to day delivery. Knowledge required to do the job Proven track record of coaching at the highest level — for example, with national teams, elite athletes. A passion for coaching and or sport and physical activity with an understanding of its central role in developing a happier and healthier nation. Demonstrated success in talent development — nurturing individuals from promising potential to peak performance. Practical experience of serving as a Board member and supporting Executive staff. An understanding of sport and physical activity. Knowledge of working with partner organisations to achieve a common set of objectives. Skills required to do the job The ability to absorb complex information and provide Board level guidance. Willingness to contribute in a positive manner and be proactive in supporting the organisation to achieve its objectives. Strong communication skills with the ability to act as an ambassador for UK Coaching. Any additional skills as determined by the Board Skills Matrix.
