Operations Director

Our client, a tier 1 contractor focusing on energy projects across the UK, are seeking an Operations Director to lead the delivery of their substation projects in the North / Eastern regions of England. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence strategic growth and oversee the successful delivery of large-scale projects within the energy sector. The Operations Director will drive the delivery of major projects valued over £300m+ each, significantly grow the current team size, and align their strategy with safety, sustainability, and financial goals, while fostering a high-performing, inclusive culture. Key Responsibilities: Oversee a team of Project Directors & Project Managers and provide operational leadership across the North / Eastern region, while ensuring safety, financial, and sustainability targets are achieved. Lead and motivate project teams, encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and engagement. Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with company growth objectives. Maintain client satisfaction by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations. Directly manage Project Directors, Operations Lead, and a commercial team to ensure cohesive, efficient operations. Work closely with senior leadership to drive overall business objectives, supporting work-winning and business development efforts. Key Skills & Experience: Demonstrated leadership within a similar project-driven environment, ideally in energy or civil infrastructure sectors. Strategic and analytical mindset with experience in financial and operational performance management. Excellent communication skills, capable of fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. Proven ability to drive safety standards and champion sustainability practices.
