Finding a spot in Leeds that ticks all the boxes can be a bit of a mission. You know, somewhere with amazing food, decent drinks, a great atmosphere, and maybe even a view that isn't just more bricks. Well, a new place called CrowdedHouse is set to open in August 2025 right at the top of Trinity Leeds, and it sounds like it might just be the one.

It's perched 'above the noise', offering two floors of dining and some pretty impressive rooftop views over the city. It's all about creating a destination that works for a fancy lunch just as well as it does for evening drinks and dinner, making it a seriously versatile new spot for a bit of everything.

Crowded House

A new view from the top of Leeds

Imagine this: you've finished a long day of shopping or work, and instead of heading into a busy bar on the ground floor, you hop into the Boar Lane lift and get whisked up to a rooftop retreat. That's the idea behind CrowdedHouse. Spread across two floors, it's designed to be a bit of an escape. The main draw has to be the incredible rooftop views, giving people a fresh perspective on the city while they enjoy some food and drinks. It's shaping up to be the kind of place you'd take someone to show off the best of what Leeds has to offer. The whole vibe is described as 'effortlessly decadent', which suggests it feels special without being stuffy. The dining experience is central to what CrowdedHouse offers, creating a dynamic space for any time of day.

The chef behind the clever menu

So, who's in the kitchen? The person in charge is Head Chef Simon Jewitt, and he's a bit of a local hero. Hailing from Harrogate in Yorkshire, Simon Jewitt has been cooking since he was 15. That's a long time to perfect your craft. He even started his career in France before coming back to Yorkshire and working in some of the region's most respected kitchens.

He's earned two AA rosettes, which, in the food world, is a huge stamp of approval for quality and skill. His whole philosophy for the CrowdedHouse menu is to take familiar food people love and just make it... better. He's doing this by using clever cooking techniques and, most importantly, by using amazing ingredients from local, regional suppliers. He's a massive champion for all things Yorkshire.

Simon commented: "The menu has been an opportunity to really shout about what makes our region so special. Wherever possible, we've found suppliers who are close-to-home. Not only does this mean we're serving the freshest produce, but it means we can shine a light on the region as a focal point for people who really know and love good food."

What's on the menu?

Right, the important bit: the food. The menu at CrowdedHouse is split into snacks, smaller plates, and larger plates, so it's great for sharing or for having a full-on meal. A few of the standout dishes are set to be the Korean fried chicken and a classic Shorthorn beef tartare. But it's not all for the meat-eaters. There's a real focus on brilliant vegan specialties too.

Think crispy Jerusalem artichokes or a stunning-sounding beetroot pappardelle. Pappardelle, if you're wondering, is a type of wide, flat pasta ribbon, and making it with beetroot sounds both delicious and very Instagram-friendly. These vegan specialties ensure there's something for everyone.

And there's more. Up on the rooftop, there's a special seasonal fish & shellfish menu. This is where you'll find some properly luxurious treats. They'll be serving native oysters, beautiful Islay langoustines (which are like massive, super-tasty prawns), and hand-dived scallops. It sounds like the perfect menu for a sunny afternoon, enjoying those rooftop views with a plate of fresh fish & shellfish and a cold drink. The options for dining are clearly extensive, making the menu a key attraction.

Fancy a bargain (or even a freebie?)

A place that looks this good could easily be expensive, but CrowdedHouse has some surprisingly good deals planned to get people through the door. It makes the whole experience feel much more accessible. Here's a quick rundown of what's on offer during the week:

  • Monday £1 Oysters: All day, every Monday, you can get oysters for just a quid each. That's an unbelievable deal. To go with them, bottles of Prosecco are just £20. What a way to start the week.
  • Wednesday 'Beat The House': This is a bit of fun. Every Wednesday between 5 pm and 7 pm, any table that has pre-booked for dining gets to play a game. Someone from the table draws a card from a shuffled deck. If it's an Ace or a King, the entire bill is completely free. Food, drinks, everything. It's a gamble, but what a win if you pull the right card! It's definitely a reason to book for a mid-week dinner. You just have to book under "Beat The House" on their website.

Your Sundays just got an upgrade

Sundays in Yorkshire are all about one thing: a proper Sunday lunch. CrowdedHouse is leaning into this with their Sunday Sessions. Every Sunday from 12 pm until 6:45 pm, they're serving up a classic Sunday Lunch but with a brilliant twist - bottomless Yorkshire puddings! Yes, you read that right. As many fluffy, perfect Yorkshire puddings as you can manage.

This alone is a reason to visit. To complete the relaxed Sunday vibe, there's also live music from 2 pm. It sounds like the perfect way to round off the weekend: amazing food, endless Yorkshires, great tunes, and those fantastic views. The Sunday Sessions are set to be a highlight for anyone looking for a relaxed yet special end to their week.
