Do not let anyone passenger attempt to open your car door if you are stopped to let someone go across the crossing or are stuck waiting for the cars in front of you move. If you do you will get a ÂŁ60 fine from the scammers posing as parking providers. If you do get a fine, see the advice on Money Saving Expert website. The only positive is there there is 30 minutes free for blue badge holders once you are within the drop off area - 2 accessible spaces.

Pre booked car park to arrive after 10am and return at 3am the following morning at a cost of £23. Arrived at car park and was greeted with message saying car park full. Pressed for assistance to be met by a voice on the intercom telling me the car park is full and prebooking does not guarantee you a space (what’s the point in pre booking and paying then???). He abruptly told me to read my terms and conditions. (Who does that when booking online). Another guy arrived at the other entrance and was in exactly the same situation as me. So now two of us waiting and nobody leaving. Eventually an employee appeared who let us both in, told us to go down the ramp and park on the left. Drove down (now in a rush to make our train time due to the time waiting at the entrance) and found a couple of spaces empty. Returned at 3am to be met with a parking fine on my windscreen saying I had parked in an unauthorised bay (reserved for Express Cars). Went to the office to be met by another abrupt member of staff saying it’s nothing to do with me. At no point did the person that morning on arrival tellingus to park down the ramp on the left explain which of the very few available spots to park in or specify a spot to be avoided. A thoroughly unpleasant experience. Why not put a caviat on the web site page explaining that prebooking does not guarantee you a spot and if the car park is full you can face a long wait potentially jeapordising you making your train time. It seems deceitful and to then hit you with an £85 fine issued by what appears to be the same person who asked you to park there reeks of daylight robbery. I shall follow the appeals process and hopefully someone reads it who is a little bit understanding but it seems a very poor and somewhat misleading service they are offering by taking your money for a spot that may not be available and then to fine you after telling you where to park. BE WARNED!!!

As for somehwere to park it was okay right in the city centre, however I had a problem paying at the end when trying to get out, as my ticket wouldn’t work in the machine, so I rang for assistance and a guy came over and I told him what the situation was, he then started getting agressive telling me I have the wrong ticket and calling me a liar, baring in mind the ticket I had was what I got out of the machine when I first entered, he then started shouting saying, “you need to pay for a lost ticket” even though I have the ticket right infront of my hand, so then I decided to try it again and it finally worked after the 10th time of trying, the guy then accused me of finding another ticket off the floor and using that instead to pay, even though he just watched me try again and still tried to scam me for more money so I stood my ground and told me to go away and let me finally pay and get out of there, absolutely disgusting behaviour from there member of staff, who should be helping people but instead this guy would not let it go and was very rude and aggressive, he also refused to give me his name but I will not be returning there now.

Pretty tight getting in and out through the barriers but apart from that, great and easy to use car park. Staff friendly and helpful. Very close to the entrance of the train station. Avoid the very messy car park right outside the station. Just leave plenty of time as the road leading up to the station was really slow.

Nice, big, traditional station which is very easy to access and find your way. We took the train to York and it went all very well :).
