Small and cozy place in the heart of Leeds, loaded with all kinds cigars - Cuban and New world. Different options of alcohol for any taste. The shop has lounge where you can get some cocktails as well. Staff is very kind and helpful. I had a great time and recommend it to every cigar lovers
After so many years, we finally have a proper cigar store and lounge in Leeds. With three floors, the store offers something for everyone that enjoys cigars. The ground floor has an impressive humidor full of incredible Cuban and New World cigars. The second floor contains a bar with many different kinds of drinks. The third floor is my favourite floor. This is where the sampling lounge is. You can enjoy cigars that you purchased from the store with great comfort. A truly valuable addition to the city.
I see a few reviews on here mentioning been snubbed because of their attire and rude staff. Ive been using the store for years and the lounge over the past year and have been in wearing anything from smart casual to jeans and a hoodie and im always greeted by a smile from the staff. Ive never felt judged or 'looked up and down' they are always polite and happy to help.
Sure it’s a lovely little shop but don’t expect a warm welcome if you’re in casual attire. Myself and my partner were in Leeds for a long weekend and I decided I wanted to visit C Gars, I had already looked on line so knew the shop had an upstairs with bar and smoking lounge. I had mentioned this to my partner as she loves rum so thought she might be interested in the bar or any of the rum sold in store. Upon arrival we were looking in the window when the staff member opened the door to look at a gentleman asleep on the arcade floor just past the entrance… granted this can’t always be helped but the man saw us looking in the window/ at door and made no attempt to speak or engage conversation. Maybe he had customers in and was just checking outside… however when we rang the bell to enter the store we still weren’t really greeted, just a meek hello. I had a brief look around to see what was on sale but felt like we really weren’t welcome. No asking us what we were after or any engagement in conversation. Felt we were looked down upon. I briefly looked at the spirits with my partner but she felt really uncomfortable so didn’t want to stay. I made a quick purchase after enquiring if the two snuffs on the shelf were the only snuffs available (was really after one that’s on your site my regular tobacconist doesn’t stock), was given some sort of quiet answer so decided this place wasn’t for people like us and bought an item because I would have felt even more awkward and looked down upon if we left without making a purchase. It’s a shame as we were looking forward to picking up a different rum and cigar to enjoy when we got home from our trip to Leeds but as we felt so unwelcome and felt as if we didn’t belong in the shop we didn’t spend any longer and left. Might be okay if you go in dressed up and smart but not if you’re wearing jeans, T shirt and a backpack
I can't wait to visit CGars shop in Leeds again. I don't smoke often, cigars for me are a rare treat. I had a camping trip scheduled with my friends who likes whiskies, I thought adding cigars would be a nice touch. I visited CGars shop with my 2 yo daughter who was a bit unsettled at the time which meant I had to keep my visit as short as possible. I explained to a member of staff what I am looking for and my budget that I am willing to spend. I was offered Peruvian cigars which on a camping day turned out to be a massive success. Everyone enjoyed them a lot and they complimented our whiskies well. We were also given a cigar clipping tool, which was a nice touch. It saved me dragging my electrical tool bag to trim cigars with my cable snips.
