The Whisky Shop

What a lovely place. I usually buy myself a bottle of whisky for Christmas every year, but this year I’ve been priced out of my regular due to how much that distiller is charging now. I had a quick browse and had a chat with one of the gentleman about a couple of options I had in mind. Purchased a new bottle with confidence and signed up to the club and got 10% off with a free magazine. Will come back next year!

Great shop with an extended selection of single malt Scotch whiskies. But they also do English, Irish, Welsh, Thai, American and more. The service is always first class. Kris, Jonathan and Gino have a great knowledge and they always suggest great bottles. Never had a bad recommendation, and every visit to the shop always turns to a wonderful experience.

Wow !! The window display caught our attention as it’s so beautiful. We weren’t disappointed when we walked into the store either. Service was extremely knowledgeable and the store has everything you could ask for if you’re a whisky connoisseur. Absolutely brilliant!

DO NOT VISIT THIS WHISKY SHOP!! Yesterday morning I walked through the County Arcade when I noticed this shop for the first time. The display in the window caught my attention, and being a single malt enthusiast, I stopped to take a look. Stood to the right hand side of me was a staff member, who was assisting his colleague to arrange the bottles on display in the window. I turned slight towards the staff member and said, "this looks to be a very good shop", to which i recieved acknowledgement via a peculiar facial expression and snigger. I then asked if they sell miniatures. He advised me they sell a few but not many. At this point I advised how I would love a miniature of Glenlivet 20 year old. To my amazement the staff member stated that Glenlivet do not make a 20 year old. I quickly corrected him and advised that they DEFINITELY do. The peculiar facial expression then returned and he advised, "no they don't". In response I told him that my grandad worked at Glenlivet many years ago, we had a private tour of the distillery in 2016 and at the end of the tour they gave my grandad a bottle their 20 year old, and we had a dram inside the distillery. He then attempted to tell me it must be an old one (about 20 years old shall we say???) or a rare one. Absolutely not correct!!!! My conclusion was to not even enter the premises, as clearly having a prestigious location does not define good customer service or knowledge of product they are selling.

I called in yesterday with my son for a browse around. The 2 gentlemen in the shop were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a chat and they offered us a sample of 2 drinks which were delicious! I will definitely return to buy some whiskies as presents..
