Hi. I don't put anything food wise as we weren't there for food, except food for heart and soul. Hidden gem 💎 for garage style small scene downstairs in a basement . Good atmosphere in the Book Club, full of young people and a little less young coming for gig as us. Good time, prices won't kill you too if you there for music, not for buzz.
What a great place. Went first for a bite to eat on a very cold day. It was packed inside so had to sit at one of the many outdoor tables instead. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I had the vegan Chicken Club - Leeds Bread Co op rosemary and sea salt foccacia with vegan chicken, vegan bacon, lettuce, tomato and vegan garlic aioli. Oh my, it was super delicious and yummy. Very filling. All the menu is vegetarian/vegan. Popular place with students. Then revisited later to see Murdo Mitchell's gig downstairs in the basement. I had seen him at Edinburgh Fringe, where he commanded the biggest crowd. Sings from the heart with a barrowload of passion. Place has many regular muso events. Great location. Great food. Good atmosphere and brill staff. Win, win, win. Highly recommended. I'd revisit now it's on my radar.
Went to an event downstairs in the basement which is an excellent venue with its own toilets and bar. The whole place itself is so good with an excellent atmosphere. It was completely full on a Monday night. There's events every night. If this had been open when I was a student, it would have been my regular, without a doubt. I love that they have very cool books for sale that line the walls, and local crafts for sale, too. I got my wife's Christmas card! Staff were excellent. Non-alcohol beer available. Easy disabled access to the upstairs floor only (though I am not in a position to fully assess this). Parking for me was in the streets opposite. Toilets were good. Excellent night out.
Lovely place with a nice vibe, enjoyed a comedy gig in the basement last week and the food was nice - cute flower on the hummus! 🌸
Cool trendy venue. Bar service can be pretty slow especially since for whatever reason there are always people queueing in lines rather than waiting normally at the bar. The gig space in the basement is a surprisingly good venue. Beer is way too expensive though seeing as it's a student place, the only draught under £5 is the disgusting house lager
