Cielo Blanco came about after four years of running tequila-soaked party bar Neon Cactus in the heart of Leeds, serving mouth-watering Mexican food from a tiny kitchen, at all hours. Our passion for fresh, flavoursome Mexican cooking was growing at an alarming rate and attention had shifted… we wanted to dish these dishes out full time. We landed at our first home in the huge sloping structure in the middle of Leeds, Trinity, of which Cielo Blanco took it’s name (Spanish for White Sky) before finding a second home in London’s foodie-haven Exmouth Market. Cielo Blanco has been influenced & shaped by our many trips around Mexico and absorbing the relaxed and social dining atmosphere that courses through the country’s veins; enjoying many-a-mezcal-fuelled cooking class in Oaxaca, roadside taquerias in Mexico City, juicy paletas in Puebla, chipotle camarones in Vera Cruz & a flying visit to Frieda Kahlo’s house for some unexpected design inspiration, all thrown into a mixing pot of molé with our proud cocktail pedigree and four years of learning and growing.
