About Leeds Youth Opera
Description
Leeds Youth Opera (LYO) is one of the premier charities for singing, performance, development and musical education opportunities for young people in Leeds and beyond. It is one of the few companies providing, since 1971,opportunities for continuous musical development from 8 to 25 years of age with alumni moving to professional careers in the operatic and musical theatre world. LYO perform two fully staged shows per academic year: one in February and one in July at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds.
The next production!
La Boheme February 7th-10th 2018
The senior company (12-25 years) will be performing Puccini's La Boheme in Italian with English surtitles. The first foreign language production for some years La Boheme will be set in a refugee camp. Principals are drawn from long standing members of the company and from undergraduates of the Northern conservatoires. A high quality orchestra under the conductor Tom Newall is assembled for each show.
If you want to have an exciting and relevant fresh experience of opera and musicals then the productions of Leeds Youth Opera will suit you and your family.
