This weightlifting-oriented gym was a nice find during my brief stay at Leeds Dock. I would definitely return for a workout were I to be in the area again.

I've lived in Leeds for 4 years and been in various gyms around the city, this gym ranks top of my list of favorite gyms in the city. Aesthetically pleasing, welcoming environment and staff, with the right equipment for strength training-lifting-conditioning.

Superb and friendly trainers and gym staff, good amount of kit for the size of the gym, concerns over high staff turnover without successful new recruitment and support for staff on the ground by the management. I started coming to Condition last August and absolutely loved it from the first moment Aimee showed me around with the friendliest and warmest welcome, and then meeting the other trainers at the time, all of whom super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. This made me excited so I signed up to 121 PT. There used to be quite a few socials and it was very community based. If I was reviewing the gym then it would have got 5 stars. Unfortunately most of the staff have left and have not been replaced and from an outsiders point of view it seems Head Coach Hector is keeping the gym afloat with little support from whoever is higher up. Signs of a gym that is surviving and not thriving and very worrying to see as a gym member very talented personal trainers leaving the gym regularly.

Joining Primal is the best thing I ever did. To say it changed my life is no exaggeration. Since I joined, I've done things I'd never dreamed of. I've been part of the winning dragon boat racing team at the Leeds Waterfront Festival, I've pushed 360kg on a prowler, and I even pulled an 8½ tonne truck by myself! I'd never been a member of a gym for longer than 6 months before I found Primal. I hated running, I didn't know what to do with a weight rack, and quite frankly I felt intimidated and out of my depth. The coaches at Primal are absolute superstars, they worked with me to build my confidence, encouraged me to try new things, and were always there celebrating alongside my achievements or to give me a boost when I needed it. The classes are great fun, small sizes so you get to know the people you're training with, collaborative and always with games and challenges to keep it interesting. I've made friends for life in the classes, which is a fab boost if you're new to the area. I also joined the SGPT sessions, which I would highly recommend to anyone. You get a personalised workout programme catered to your own strengths and weaknesses (I have hypermobility and all my exercises took this into account, and actually caused my day-to day issues to all but disappear). You also get nutritional advice, as well as help with lifestyle, relaxation and sleep, so it's so much more than your standard workout plan. I always thought that if I'd seen one gym, I'd seen them all. Rows of treadmills and cross trainers, mirrors on every conceivable surface, and a tiny weights area where if I was lucky I might be able to sneak in before being stared away by the resident gym bros, back to the safety of the "ladies" weights. Primal is the complete opposite of this. There's not a single treadmill in the building, instead there are more kettlebells and weights than I'd ever seen in one place before, a full boxing ring and bag area, TRX machines spanning the length of the room and not to mention the numerous lifting platforms and benches. If you want a cheap bog-standard cardio mill, Primal is probably not the right fit. If you're looking for some help getting started, some encouragement in your journey, in working out for the fun of it, or to push yourself to see what you can do, this is the place for you.

Good gym in general but be careful about making any phone arrangements. I called them up to cancel my membership for personal reasons and they said ok it’s cancelled you have nothing else to do. Then charged me another month because apparently I should also have sent them an email, which they never mention. A shame as I used to recommend this gym but just left a bitter taste
