Description

The oldest working railway in the world, established by first railway Act of Parliament in 1758. An Accredited Museum, come and ride on the train, see the "Leeds built" locomotive collection in the Engine House, enjoy refreshments in our cafe and browse our shop.

Collection of industrial steam and diesel railway locomotives. Trains run every weekend from Apr to Dec, steam trains on Sun. The railway runs to the northern end Middleton Park, where visitors can explore the ancient woodland, including a nature trail, picnic area and lake. The family will also enjoy other special events, such as Family Gala, Model Railway Exhibition, Santa Trains and much more.

Opening Times

The site opens to the public at 10.00 on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, and additionally Wednesdays in August. Mince Pie Specials run on New Years Day. Trains run on Saturdays from 11.00 to 16.20, Sundays 11.00 until 16.20 and Bank Holiday Mondays 11.00 until 16.20, with a forty minute service in between. On August Wednesdays trains run from 11.00 until 15.20, Times may change for special events, during winter daylight saving last train is 15:40.
