Sunny Bank Mills
About
Description
The historic Sunny Bank Mills, in the heart of Farsley village, is undergoing a cultural rebirth since ceasing the manufacture of worsted cloth in 2008. The Gallery, Gift Shop and Tea Room are in the light and airy former cloth warehouse. The Gallery works with regional artists to give them a platform to exhibit in Leeds, shows rotate about every 6 weeks and both established and emerging artists and makers are represented.
The Gift Shop is a beautiful selection of hand made objects alongside books and homeware.
You can relax in the Café to enjoy fresh homemade cakes, surrounded by stunning art.
Sunny Bank Mills was founded in 1829 by a group of local weavers. The Mills developed into one of the world’s most important fine worsted
mills. The dramatic history is preserved for future generations in the Archive. You can learn about the mill workers and their skills and families. You can study the vast collection nearly 150 years of worsted cloth designs.
The mill is also home to many creative businesses and artist’s studios, shops, café and bar and specialist retail.
