Spirit Health Club

The Spirit Health Club on Wellington Street has a gym facility, but it’s not a full gym. The space and equipment are quite limited, so you can get a workout in, but only within those limits. The real highlight here is the leisure side: a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room, which make it a good spot if you’re looking more for relaxation and light exercise. That said, the same space issue applies to the locker room and showers. They’re functional, but on the smaller side. Overall, it’s not ideal if you want a fully equipped gym, but works well if you value the pool and spa facilities.

Having stayed in the hotel and used the pool facilities multiple times over the last few years we've never had an issue with our son using the jacuzzi. Yet last night a red headed man came and told me he had to get out as it wasn't to be used by under 16's, no explanation on why that policy was in place (my son's 13 and was sitting next to me talking not causing any issues in any way). There had been young children from the age of 3 upwards in the jacuzzi from when we arrived (medically jacuzzi's aren't recommended for young under 5's) yet he chose to ignore this and pick on a young adult who was quite literally sitting there talking to his mum! Between that and the fact there are now two hours in the evening's that under 18's can't use the pool even with parental supervision, really gives the vibe that ageism is massively at play here and really they don't want children or young adults in there. The shower area in the female changing rooms are dirty and the pool area as a whole could do with a good clean and modernisation.

I’ve been a member since June, and the facilities are excellent with a friendly team. The place is consistently clean, thanks to the staff’s hard work keeping up with the cleaning demands. However, some members show a disappointing lack of respect for the environment, almost as if they deliberately create extra mess. This is especially noticeable with the group that regularly arrives around 9 am.

Place is always clean as the team work hard to keep up with amount of cleaning however some of the members are just have a lack of respect for the environment, its as if they do it deliberately to cause more mess for the staff always seem to be then group that come in at 9am

I have been a member for several months now and would definitely recommend this gym/spa. The staff are friendly and always greet you with a smile. If I've ever reported a maintenance problem or I've seen another member ask for something, the staff are always happy to help. The facilities are perfect for what I need. There's a good range of equipment in the gym and it's never too busy to get on the equipment I want. The spa is perfect after a long day! The sauna, steam room and pool are just the right temperature. The complimentary towel, shower gel and shampoo in the showers, and hairdryers in the changing rooms are a welcome extra touch. I would definitely recommend a membership to anyone! The added discount on the bar/restaurant with the gym membership is also a bonus.
