Leyburn Filling Station

Only went because the reviews were so terrible, drove 60 miles out of my way to see how horrific it was, must have been an off day, as the bloke was very pleasant. Incredibly disappointed, by his friendly demeanor.

Absolutely appalling customer service. I visited this station this morning to fill up my car. I was using my wife’s car, as mine was in for an MOT, and mistakenly pulled up to the wrong side for the fuel cap. At most petrol stations, this is usually not an issue, as the hoses are designed to reach both sides. There was more than enough slack on the hose, so I proceeded to start filling. An attendant came out and, rather abruptly, told me I needed to move the car to the "correct" side. When I politely asked why — since this has never been an issue elsewhere — he simply replied, "Why was it not an issue for you to use the correct side?" I explained it was a simple mistake, as I was in a different car, and asked again what the problem was. His only response was, "Well, it's a problem for me." At that point, I said I’d rather take my business elsewhere, to which he replied, "You do that, and don’t bother coming back." Having since read other reviews, it seems this kind of rude and unprofessional attitude is not an isolated incident at this location. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Having lived here 4 years and use this place frequently I've never had an issue until today. It was busy by Leyburns standards so rather than queue for a pump I pulled round and pulled the hose round to other side of the car. *gasps* I stood waiting for the pump to be activated but nothing happened, this isn't uncommon, he's often too busy talking to push the button, sometimes he's not even on the premises but you get used to that. After a while he strolls out, takes the pump and hose and says "I need you to have the fuel filling cap the same side as the pump" I reply with "why?" Genuinely perplexed, to which he retorts "because I said so, is that a good enough reason?" . Well yes it is a good enough reason for me to now go any of the other many fuel stations around, as it happened I carried on to Crakehall as I was on my way to the A1 and the lady there was very pleasant and all to happy to help. So won't be going back.

The most un welcoming and rude staff member/ Owner I have ever encountered. I have worked in retail for many years and have never know anything like this. Other member of the public were also in shock at the rudeness and situation. Such a shame this person ruined such a lovely day in Leyburn, which had a lovely community feeling and everyone else we met was so friendly. I would highly recommend avoiding this person and shop and instead supporting one of the other lovely community businesses.
