My partner and I visited twice. We found the food to be outstanding and ordered the same meal twice. I had Aberdeen Angus bacon and cheese burger, which was dressed with salad and beef tomatoes. The chips were homemade, as was the coldslaw and everything was absolutely delicious. My partner had the steak and ale pie, with chips, mushy peas the first time, veg the second and gravy. Again it was of excellent quality with piles of meat in the pie and the gravy was to die for the best we have ever tasted. We didn't have much room left for dessert but tried the 'black forest mess' on our 2nd visit which was again lovely and the portion size was huge, we shared one. The staff were also very friendly and the whole atmosphere of the pub was very relaxed and welcoming, all very dog friendly . We will definitely be back if in the area again. HIGHLY Recommended country pub. Sue and Steve from the West Midlands!

OMG, what can we say. You pay for what you get to support local and just by chance we had tea here as our camp site was closed for food at 5pm. Packed out when we arrived but the staff fitted us in for 8pm. The food was unbelievable and the taste was unreal. I have myself never tasted a pie so good and the filling was 100%. Thank you everyone there. If you visit this area again we will deffo be back. We are the couple from Mid Wales that you chatted to the owners late on. Thank you both and keep up the good work. 100% recommendation but would subject booking first for food.

Visited recently for a 60th birthday meal. 7 adults and 5 children which they managed to sort a table for. Lots of choice on the menu and the specials board. Food was really good quality and very reasonably priced. Chicken Parmo, slow cooked beef and the Chicken Breast were the highlights for us. Would definitely return next time we’re in the area.

Best Sunday dinner we've had for ages, three had the beef, two thenut roast and one chicken pie, all generous portions, couldn't finish the chicken pie. Hearty portion of beef, delicious mash, great roast potato and lovely veg. Perfect gravy and Yorkshire pudding. Service was friendly and attentive. Slight wait, entirely acceptable for the quality of food and this was a very busy place, beer was first class too. All six of us were very satisfied indeed. Tip one, book in advance Tip two, they stop serving at 5:30. Tip three, enjoy 😁

Had a meal in here for my birthday. Food was excellent, better than pub grub. Much better. The bottle of white wine was nice too. Β£20. The only gripe I have is a 20% service charge without even asking or mentioning it especially when the waitress rolled her eyes when I asked if I could ask a question about 1 particular item on the menu. I personally like to tip when I've had good service and good food. I would still go back though cos this chef is a very good cook. Too good for a pub.
