David and Ruth Elkington are the founders of ROOST Coffee & Roastery. They are the founders and previous owners for 3 years of the successful CottonHouse Coffee Shop in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. They always wanted to open a coffee shop, serving great coffee. They chose to live in Helmsley, in the North York Moors National Park as a great place to bring up their family and open a high quality coffee shop. CottonHouse used roasted coffee beans from the celebrated Monmouth Coffee Company of London. Monmouth have proved an inspiration and business model to David and Ruth. In 2011 they both attended Monmouth's Maltby Street shop and roastery for training. In 2012 opened CottonHouse and in 2015 launched ROOST. With this experience David and Ruth can offer practical advice on beginning, running and managing an independent coffee shop, knowing all the challenges, highs and lows.
