Had a delicious lunch with friends here today. So many delicious things on the menu it was difficult to choose, the salads were fabulous, so many different ingredients and lovely flavours. The service was great, friendly and taking time to explain their dishes. I had the best falafel I have ever eaten, , light, mouthwatering and delicately spiced. The cakes looked amazing but after generous main portions sadly I couldn't fit any in ! There's also a good range of drinks. This is a delightful place to spend time , and enjoy great food.
Mixed experience - lovely cafe with nice vegan/vegetarian options but seems needlessly overpriced to dine in + overcharged us. if you wish to dine in, you need to order a Meal/lunch plate. Meaning any fridge item (even worth £2.5) will need to be paired with salad etc and will cost meal/ lunch plate prices (I.e., £8.5 with 1 small serving of side salad/ £10.5 with 2). Please read full review/see photos to know how it doesn’t make sense. Staff is friendly. Food tastes average, Indian spices. Tap water has no extra charges. However, Portions are generally small. Felt overpriced. Eg. Meal price for a samosa we ordered (which is £2.5 pounds on its own) was £8.5 with just addition of 1 side salad portion. Why? I also feel we were overcharged, we ordered 3 fridge item, 2 were served with 1 side salad and one on its own and still paid around £25, not sure why we paid 3 lunch plate prices when weren’t served with? Otherwise ambiance is lovely, great for photos.
How can so much deliciousness be packed into such a tiny space? I was visiting Malton just for a few hours and looking for somewhere a bit different to have lunch. I spotted the Purple Carrot just as I was heading away from the market place. Inside the tiny space was a counter full of all manner of delicious cakes etc with a blackboard just above counter with various meal options. I ordered Chaat from the blackboard then made my way up some fairly steep stairs to the seating area . I was very lucky to get as seat as there were probably no more than 25 seats in total. My food was delicious and a very generous portion too! No time for a dessert of any kind but there were several which I could happily have chosen. Definitely somewhere that I would visit again. Recommended!
Visited while shopping in Malton. Looks like a deli from the front but there are 5 tables upstairs if you want to eat in. Chose the 5 salad option and 3 salad with hummus and flatbread for the 2 of us. All tasted great - so much flavour in non-meat salads. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Popped in with family for a light lunch. All vegetarian or vegan. Lady was very helpful explaining the dishes on offer and the accompanying salads. Veggie tart was delicious, very nice pastry case. Butter bean salad was in a sweet chili sauce rather than the spicy chili I was expecting. Cute seating upstairs. Toilets a further floor up. Left feeling satiated but not heavy like can happen with the usual bread and chips. Highly recommend.
