We visited recently and absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, it was dog-friendly, and the staff were genuinely lovely. After we left, my son realised he’d left his phone behind — we didn’t notice until we got home, and we live in Sunderland, so it’s quite a distance away. The manager was incredibly kind and helpful and arranged to leave the phone at a local shop since they were closed on Sunday, so we could collect it. I drove back today to pick it up and just wanted to say a huge thank you for going above and beyond. Such wonderful service — we can’t recommend this place enough.
Well and truly overpriced. Bite-sized muffin: One slice of bacon, small overdone egg and a grating of cheese....almost ten quid. English breakfast: One slice of bacon, one overdone egg, two sliced mushrooms, two small sausages and a tablespoon of baked beans for £12.95 plus £1.00 for black pudding and £4.20 for a filter coffee taking the cost to almost twenty quid. Neigh-on £30.00 in total.....c'mon get a grip!! First and last time of visiting. Yes you need to make a profit, but extortionate prices for miniscule portions of mediocre food isn't going to get you repeat footfall.
We always have a break during our shopping trips to Makton and The Hidden Monkey is perfect always warm and welcoming the staff are so very friendly and helpful. My husband enjoy his bacon baguette I have the gluten free cheese scone with a slice of Wensleydale cheese with a coffee we are then charged up to finish our shopping. Such a treat.
Dog friendly, warm welcoming staff, delicious food and generous portions, clean and immaculate toilets with baby changing table. Nice atmosphere.
