Build & Restore Malton

The Build and Restore team had a tight schedule available for our work, but pulled out all the stops. The work was well explained, nice and clear, with photos of the work which needed carrying out. Martin even looked at areas which one wouldn’t usually see, such as the fascia boards and was able to take photos and explain what work might be required. Helping save money in the long run, while the scaffolding was up, they even fixed these. Our 1830’s mid terrace was in need of repointing - and now looks absolutely stunning! Hopefully also more secure and better insulated for years to come. They also ended up working for our Neighbour’s property too! So that has to be a good review! Thank you Martin and your team!

Martin and his excellent team are the real deal. No hesitation in giving five stars. He is a hot lime specialist in this area of Ryedale, and the pictures of all the buildings he has restored speak for themselves. He understands the importance of matching the right material in the right context. He knows the history of building techniques in this area, which then informs his faithful restoration methods. His use of hot lime mixed on-site, (which is not NHL, and definitely not cement) is an age-old technique, which not only looks beautiful when applied but is also the correct material for our wet climate. Since our walls and chimneys were restored by B&R, our house feels considerably warmer and drier. Cannot recommend him enough. He is thorough, reasonably priced, and really cares for each job. He is a stone and mortar maestro. We feel very lucky that we found him.

Martin and his team worked on our gable cottage wall to repoint and replace the mortar which was in a bad way and repointed with lime mortar all was carried out to a very high standard. The end result being a beautiful wall which looks so stunning Martin kept us updated and his communication was excellent throughout the whole process sending photos as the works progressed. I am so pleased to have had his team complete the works on my cottage they were very skilled in their works and extremely tidy ensuring all clean when works completed. I will make contact again when in need of a skilled team of builders that take care and pride in their work.

Firstly I very rarely leave reviews but I was so pleased with Martin's work I felt I needed too! I had some issues with the pointing and stone work on the rear face of my property for some time so I called Martin and he provided me with a quote for the work very quickly and professionally. After accepting the quote Martin and his team started promptly, no mucking about and everything was done to perfection. Martin and the entire team were very professional and and I'd like to point out they were very respectful given the current COVID 19 situation and related social distancing requirements. Martin and his team clearly take pride in their work and they went the extra mile to finish the job off to a really high standard. I would highly recommend Build & Restore and wouldn't hesitate use Martin's services again in future.

Superb craftsmanship and attention to detail. Martin maintained excellent communication during a complicated 12 month restoration/rebuild, patiently explaining the process throughout. He was always a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend him as a builder who takes great pride in his work.
