The Mount & Wills Bar

Last minute stop over for 1 night. Decent size, clean room with comfy bed. Lovely sunset view from our window. Nice bar and dining area. Food good. Free, easy parking and short stroll to town center. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Pet friendly also. Would stay again.

Visited here for the first time with our football lot, the venue is stunning and this review is on the basis of the manager/owners personable skills which from the off was simply terrible. We were greeted by him outside as we got out of our cars where he told one of our party to park a certain way. That was fair enough but once we got into the bar area, a teammate asked for a cup of tea after a staff member saying yes to we serve hot drinks, the manager intervened and said no I am not turning the kettle on for 1 drink! In a stern and horrible manner might I add. We were one of the the first team members to order drinks so there could have potentially been more hot drinks ordered but the way he handle it was shocking and we felt so strongly about this that we felt the need to write this review. It has huge potential particularly with the right management who have strong personable skills for one quality to start with and today was far from it sadly. The other staff were extremely friendly, the whole place and atmosphere was let down by the manager unfortunately.

We didn't stay at the hotel but were in the area so we ate here twice. Have to say the service and food was excellent. Will was the bartender on the first night and Lewis the second. Both were very professional and polite. All round nice guys and a credit to the hotel. We had steak and ale pie which was amazing and veggie lasagne the first night and scampi the next. All cooked fresh and really tasty. This place is a must if you are in the area. Don't have to stay at the hotel to eat.

Reasonable prices, great location, breakfast nice, large plates. Very quiet when we stayed on a Sunday. Plenty of space to park.

Great! The staff are fab, the ‘superior’ room we had as a family of four had loads of room, tv, good beds, great shower. Food and drinks were ace. I’d stay again if going that way. Parking can be a bit tricky later on, as it gets busy, despite being a decent size.
