Thrifty Car and Van Rental Sheffield

Absolutely awful experience, do not use them. I hired a new Transit e Custom for one day to help my daughter and her partner with a house move. The van was dangerous, constantly putting on the emergency brake and parking brake while driving, almost causing me to be rear ended a few time's. Reversing was almost impossible because the brakes engaged constantly. When I dared to suggest there was a fault the staff were very patronising, telling me it was my driving. To top it off they found some damage, a twopence sized mark on the drivers mirror, which was covered by bird poop when I picked the van up, and looks like a paint imperfection. If I zoom in on their pre rental check photo, I can make out the poop & damage (blurred but definitely there) they took my full £250 deposit for a mirror which can be bought for £50! No chance of appeal or getting any form of second opinion. It has left a very bitter taste. Google suggests that a common fault with a seat sensor causes the braking issue. Complete rip off merchant.

I use Thrifty Sheffield a lot and cannot rate them highly enough. Their administrative staff and delivery drivers are very courteous, helpful and professional. The cars are always delivered and recovered on time and to a very high standard. Outstanding service, thank you.

Very poor service indeed staff just take your money for damage that was already on the car.. rented a car took it back with full tank of fuel for charged saying vehicle wasn't brought back with fuel in + they also charged me for damage to the car that was not on there sheet/ tablet so had too pay another £600. Please be careful renting check the log out sheet with a fine tooth comb or it will cost you £600 for a stone chip ??

Rented a car from here last year the blue bmw 3 series 340i. They inspected the car before we had taken it however as I was on the motorway the tyre sensor light had come on and I drove to the nearest exit as it was closer than the service station when I had pulled over the tyre was fully burst and had slightly come off the rim (these where run flat tyres) and I had only drove less than 200 yards when the low tyre pressure had come on the dash upon futher inspection the stem of the actual tyre was faulty as I had took the tyre cap off the stem came out with it I had immediately took a picture. Thrifty added extra charges on top of my deposit so l will be taking them to court after I seek legal advice if they do not get this resolved

We rented a car from here and knew we had a big ol' deposit to pay. I was very very nervous as the reviews didnt fill me with hope but they were half the price of other companies. I have to say we had a brilliant experience - lovely staff, immaculate R series Golf given and we drove carefully and not an issue. Helped that we washed the car before giving it back so the search was easier for them. Lovely team and 100000% recommend it. Everyone is so quick to complain but not to give good feedback - i had my full deposit refunded and everyone was really great.
