Half Moon Inn

Myself and my wife went for lunch today 23/11/23, I had the fish and chips my wife had the burger both meals were delicious, piping hot and plenty full. We were greeted with friendly welcoming smiles and fantastic chat. The pub has a log burner which in turn gives it a very cosy warm feel to it. We will definitely be eating and drinking there again.

No ladies toilet available- only option was to use gents, no thank you. No warning before having a drink either, just not acceptable 🤬 Just to add: I'm glad you realise it was unacceptable and if my attitude was off, perhaps that was because yours was very casual about not being able to provide suitable facilities and not being given the information and therefore the option to leave, before buying a drink! I did go to check if the gents was acceptable to use, and as I am not familiar with gents toilets or urinals, did not know about the mat, I just saw yellow and was not going to get close enough to check it out! The fact of the urinals was enough to make an exit. Whilst there are indeed venues with unisex toilets, as far as I am aware they consist of individual cubicles, so not likely that I may exit the loo to find some bloke peeing in the urinal, so really not the same thing. Hope you have resolved the problem, and also think the fact that your response was about my attitude rather than an apology kind of says enough.

Not the most family friendly, we were asked to stop the children “running around” they were well behaved though they are both under 5 so it’s a big ask to expect them to sit still the whole time. They were not noisy or annoying to anyone. Food was ok service was fine. Just not very family friendly. Probably won’t be going back because of that. We were there for a family birthday party so put a decent amount of money over the bar, would have been nice to have felt more welcome.

Stopped here on are way back from filey for Sunday lunch, but ended up having stake pie with veg, l must say it was the best pie I've had in a long time, also the Sunday lunches that way been brought out looked very nice to, the pup it's self is very modern, clean and very friendly, definitely be going back.

Poor food and customer service August 2025 Terrible Sunday lunch stewed veg, burnt Yorkshire pudding, tinned process peas ? Absolute mush and expensive 20 pounds adult ( not worth it ) and told that they were out of main puddings! Shocking to say the least serving girl seemed ok , woman behind bar had attitude came across as rude and unapproachable hence had to say something so here it is for all to see bad service all round.
