Enjoy it now, or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. At its heart, Figuière Winery is a family business, with a long history in some of France’s most famous wine-making regions. The Combard family have always had a knack for creating delicate and complex French wine, beginning their story in the Chablis appellation in the 1970s. The pride of the family, however, is the 44-acre Saint-André de Figuière estate that lies deep in the French Riviera, in the Côtes de Provence AOC - and directly opposite the beautiful Mediterranean island of Porquerolles. Its quartz-rich schist soils serve as the perfect foundation for Figuière’s flagship wine, the Premiere Rosé. This delightful pale pink wine is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvedre grapes, harvested separately from organic vineyards. It showcases an ensemble of ripe red fruits on the nose, along with notes of apricot, citrus and hits of herb and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine’s sapid roundness is balanced out by a lively acidity. Notes of strawberry dominate, while pepper, saline and hints of spice reveal themselves on the lengthy finish. This is an easy-drinking, delicious taste of Provence, best served slightly chilled. Drink it as an aperitif with some finger food, or pair it with poultry or shellfish.
