Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for 8 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1903 by Georgios Argyros, and now managed by the third and fourth generation of the family, Estate Argyros covers an area of about 65 hectares, on which it grows only indigenous varieties of Santorini, such as Assyrtiko, Athiri, Aidani, Mandilaria, Mavrathiro, Mavrotragano, and Voudomato. The Argyros winery has one of the oldest vineyards on the island: some parcels are more than 150 years old. Assyrtiko Monsignori derives exactly from the most ancient plot, on volcanic soil with vines planted ungrafted. Here the yields are rather contained and the result is a highly concentrated wine capable of evolving over time. In the glass, the wine has a delicate straw yellow color with a slight greenish reflection. The nose is filled with aromas of citrus and yellow fruit, followed by lemongrass and mineral notes. On the palate, freshness and minerality are surprisingly explosive. The marked acidity is perfectly integrated and the wine has an elegant character. It is a wine that reflects the varietal characteristics of Assyrtiko with a remarkable depth. To best enhance its personality, it is suggested to serve it at a temperature of 10-12 degrees. Try it with grilled fish or stuffed squid.
