Product Description

Catappa Bark creates a natural surrounding and increases the vitality and well-being of your aquarium inhabitants. Hobby Catappa Bark is 100% natural and sustainably harvested from large tropical catappa trees. The bark of these trees, as well as their leaves, has anti-bacterial properties and is widely used to treat common bacterial ailments, as well as heal superficial injuries like bites or transportation wounds.. Features. Supply important humins that plants use to grow. Naturally tan water, creating a ‘blackwater effect’ that simulates wild-like conditions. Gently decrease pH, making water more suitable for certain species. Tanning agents released have anti-microbial properties, promoting better health and vitality. Serve as a breeding ground for microfauna readily eaten by small predatory fish, shrimps, and crabs. Considerably stronger effects than Catappa Leaves or Alder Cones. Instructions. Prior to placing Catappa Bark in your aquarium, it’s a good idea to boil it in fresh water. This will remove any lingering bacteria and waterlog it, increasing the chances that it’ll sink when you finally add it to your aquarium.. After boiling your Catappa Bark, strain it and then add it to your aquarium – one piece of park is sufficient for approximately 100 litres of water. If pre-boiled, or left for a day or two, the Catappa Bark will sink and start to release humins and tanning agents.. As a natural product, Catappa Bark won’t last forever and after two to three weeks it will start to break down and lose its effectiveness. It’s recommended that you replace your Catappa Bark once it starts to break down. This pack contains approximately 12 pieces.
