Clairefontaine Ingress paper is a laid paper, which means that the surface of each sheet has a faintly ribbed texture, perfect for holding graphite and soft pastel colour. This surface is characteristic of the traditional hand-made papers of the pre-industrial age, which were formed in sieve-like moulds.
