Rohrer & Klingner Etching Transparent Ground Is A Wax Hard Ground Designed To Coat An Etching Plate As An Acid Resist. Because It Is Light-coloured And Transparent, It Can Be Used For Preparing Plates Where The Drawing Needs To Remain Visible Through The Ground. It Can Be Melted Onto A Heated Metal Plate And Then Applied By Either A Roller Or A Dabber Until It Is Spread Evenly Over The Plate. A Tool Such As An Etching Needle Can Then Be Used To Draw Into The Ground.This Hard Ground Is Suitable For Most Etching Processes And Is Soluble In Turpentine.
