Rohrer & Klingner Etching Hard Ground Is A Traditional Wax Ground Designed To Coat An Etching Plate As An Acid Resist. It Can Be Melted Onto A Heated Metal Plate And Then Applied By Either A Roller Or A Dabber Until It Is Spread Evenly Over The Plate. Once The Ground Is Dry, The Plate Can Be Smoked Or Blackened Using Wax Tapers. A Tool Such As An Etching Needle Can Then Be Used To Draw Into The Ground.This Hard Ground Is Suitable For Most Etching Processes And Is Soluble In Turpentine.
