The Sound were a seminal English postpunk band formed in SouthLondon in 1979 by lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter AdrianBorland, alongside drummer Mike Dudley, bassist Graham Bailey, andkeyboardist Benita Bi Marshall. Though their debut album Jeopardy isnow widely recognized as a cornerstone of the postpunk movement,the band struggled to achieve commercial success on par with theirpeers, ultimately disbanding in 1988 Recorded at the Marquee Club across two August nights in 1985, In TheHothouse is the only live album released whilst the band were stillactive. The set draws on highlights from the groups back catalogue aswell as material from Heads And Hearts which had been released a fewmonths earlier.
