Airfix 1/76 Scale Scammell Tank Transporter Model Kit

The Scammell Tank Transporter had its origins in a British Army requirement that envisaged main battle tanks weighing well over 60 tones. It was originally developed to replace the old Thornycroft Antars tank transporters. Development of the transporter began in 1976 but due to defense spending delays the production of a batch of 125 units for the British Army did not began until 1983. The British Army would use the Scammell Tank Transporter for many uses during the war. The trailor was fixed to the tractor and not demountable like modern semi-trailer trucks. Hinged ramps were used to get the tank onto the trailer, which if immobilised could be pulled on with the tractor unit's winch. These Airfix model kits will require paints and glue to complete.
