The Sound were a seminal English postpunk band formed in SouthLondon in 1979 by lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Adrian Borland, alongside drummer Mike Dudley, bassist Graham Bailey, andkeyboardist Benita Bi Marshall. Though their debut album Jeopardy isnow widely recognized as a cornerstone of the postpunk movement,the band struggled to achieve commercial success on par with theirpeers, ultimately disbanding in 1988. Despite this, The Sounds music has endured, earning a devoted cultfollowing among fans of postpunk and alternative music. After theuncompromising sonic direction of their 1982 album All Fall Down, 1984s Shock of Daylight was celebrated as a triumphant return to form.The EP features some of the bands most beloved material, including thesingles Counting the Days and Golden Soldiers.
