Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Oboe is a range of wines produced at Quinta do Cabeço, in Portugal's Douro Valley wine region, by the Companhia dos Vinhos do Douro. The Oboe Som de Barrica Branco is a blend of various grape varieties, including Rabigato, Códega, Viosinho, and Verdelho, sourced from vineyards in the region with vines approximately 25 years old. As is often the case in Portugal, many different varietals are mixed in the old vineyards, which nevertheless form part of the blend, becoming what is known as a "field blend." After harvest, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature to preserve freshness and ensure the pure expression of the aromatic profile. The finished wine then ages in French oak barrels for 9 months, acquiring structure and complexity. In the glass, the wine displays a straw yellow color with bright greenish highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and fresh, with fruity notes of citrus, mango, pineapple, and exotic fruits, followed by mineral notes. On the palate, it is lively, elegant, and deep. The oak aging proves well-integrated, and a pronounced acidity perfectly balances the overall flavor. It is smooth and has good fruity complexity with a long, thirst-quenching finish. It is an excellent aperitif and pairs well with all fish and seafood recipes.
