Cooperative V2X-Based Intersection Assistance to Increase Awareness of Vulnerable Road Users : A Data-Driven Proof of Concept

Jan Niklas Puller presents a proof of concept for a V2X-based intersection assistance system that enables drivers to avoid potential collisions with vulnerable road users, especially cyclists, at urban intersections.The work integrates cooperative communication and accident data analysis to develop a functioning prototype that actively raises driver awareness of possible conflicts at an early stage.An innovative combination of predictive algorithms and a dedicated human–machine interface supports timely, intuitive driver intervention.The results give an outlook on how such cooperative safety functions can be implemented in series vehicles in the future.
