The special fibreglass fabric with its particularly dense silicone coating withstands temperatures of up to 1000 °C for extended periods, and even peak temperatures of 1750 °C. It contains exploding parts due to the material's high bursting strength. A battery fire, which does not require an external oxygen supply and therefore cannot be smothered, burns out in a controlled manner under the blanket.
