If you are in Japan in July, you should not miss it!(the tournaments take place 6 times a year; 3 times in Tokyo, once in Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka respectively. Each tournament lasts for 15 days. ) If you'd like to see sumo, it takes about two hours by Shinkansen from Tokyo, and about one hour by Shinkansen from Kyoto.
