Eugene Joseff born in 1905 began his career in advertising. It was in the late 1920's that he decided to move to Los Angeles to further his career and seek better opportunities. It was here that he met costume designer Walter Plunkett who inspired Joseff to create jewellery for the Hollywood film industry. Joseff developed and created a matte finish for his jewellery designs that minimized glare from the studio lighting. It was not long before he became the most sought-after costume jeweller in Hollywood. He designed, manufactured and rented jewellery to movie studios under the brand Joseff of Hollywood creating pieces for many notable actresses such as Greta Garbo in Camile, Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express and Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind. The company continues to strive today, managed by the Joseff family, the company continues to trade via its online sales with a strong social media presence.
