Drawing on the music of D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott and Maxwell, the night moves between smoky slow-burn grooves, jazz-inflected rhythm and the kind of songwriting that made neo soul feel both intimate and quietly revolutionary. This was music that pushed R&B away from polish and back toward texture: live instrumentation, layered harmonies, hip-hop influence and emotional honesty at the centre of every track.
