Attractive evergreen fern with feathery fronds that emerge yellowish-green with slender golden scales and mature to a glossy dark green. Polystichum polyblepharum (Japanese Lace Fern) thrives in full or partial shade and prefers moist, acid to neutral soils. Fully established spread 0.5–1m. Suitable for pots, patios, borders and small gardens; pairs well with hostas and other shade lovers. Low maintenance—cut back dead fronds in winter to encourage fresh growth.
