Prunus incisa 'Kojo-no-mai' is a compact, bushy flowering cherry ideal for small gardens, balconies and containers, with a spread up to 2.5m. It blooms in early spring (March to April) with delicate white blossoms blushed with pink that attract pollinators. In autumn the leaves turn vibrant oranges and reds before falling to reveal the tree's distinctive zig-zag branches and graceful winter silhouette. Its name means 'flight of the butterflies' in Japanese, and this variety is awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit; rootstock Colt and typically dispatched as 2-year-old, bare-root specimens.
