Product Description

Discover all Chateau Branaire Ducru vintages. ABOUT THE WINE. With origins dating back to 1680, Château Branaire-Ducru is one of the historic classified growths of the Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux. The estate was purchased by Patrick Maroteaux in 1988, who implemented extensive modernisation to elevate the château’s reputation and precision in winemaking.. Renowned for its elegant structure and ageing potential, Branaire-Ducru typically features a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, which imparts power, freshness, and a signature Saint-Julien finesse. The 2015 vintage is a standout example, benefitting from excellent ripening conditions and a meticulous selection process in both vineyard and cellar.. TASTING NOTES. Composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 vintage shows a deep ruby-purple colour with intense aromas of black raspberry, spice, and toasty oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, with layers of cassis, black olive, and blackberry, supported by firm yet ripe tannins. Long, balanced, and refined — a benchmark Branaire-Ducru and one of the château’s most complete expressions to date.. FOOD PAIRING. An excellent match for lamb with roasted vegetables, mushroom risotto, or aged hard cheeses like Comté or Pecorino. Also ideal with dishes featuring truffle or earthy spice.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. A superb vintage for Branaire-Ducru, offering exceptional value relative to its pedigree and ageing potential. Already expressive, but now reaching its prime — this is a wine that truly reflects the elegance and precision of Saint-Julien.
