1 x 75cl. 'Bercher warns that this wine, from a vineyard on volcanic soil, needs quite a bit of time. The 2021 is too young to drink. Cranberry and rose hip, mountains and music. The texture, the tannins, are deeply woven into the fruit, the wine grips and holds with startling defiance yet filigree tensility. Layer upon layer, it soars then glides. Very complex and it holds, and holds, the line.' Tasted by Tamlyn Currin, wine writer for Jancis Robinson, who gave it 17.5++/20. Lauren Sharples, Sommelier for the Angel at Hetton, also praises the wine, saying 'I love wines from volcanic soils, and Weingut Bercher’s focus on expressing them in their wines is clear. This is the winemaker’s favourite, and after one sip I understood why. Bramble fruits, wet leaves and volcanic earthiness – if you could bottle Autumn, I imagine it would taste like this.' The wine also features fragrant notes of wild strawberry, hibiscus, and redcurrant, with a taut and linear texture and a stony backbone.
