Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Domaine Jean-Baptiste Hardy is a winery in the Loire Valley, located in the commune of Mouzillon within the Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine wine district. Jean-Baptiste took over the family business in 2018, and obtained his first harvest in 2020. The Melon de Bourgogne grapes for the Cuvée Clos de la Lozangère come from a plot located in the commune of Mouzillon. Here the vines, planted in 1950, enjoy a southern exposure and a soil composed of gabbro. The oceanic climate tempered by the proximity of the Loire river favors the production of fresh wines with excellent aromatic complexity. After fermentation, the wine remains in barrels on the lees for 1 year, followed by an additional 6 months in glass vats. In the glass, the wine reveals a bright straw-yellow color and a broad and complex aromatic profile with lively citrus and yellow fruit notes and floral scents on a slightly iodine background. On the palate, it is expressive, crisp, and mineral with a strong acidity and a silky texture. It is elegant and balanced with a long, fresh, and vaguely salty finish. It is an easy-to-approach and youthful wine but shows a good capacity to evolve. Try it with oysters or goat cheese.
